Work Tryout

   A work tryout provides an opportunity to evaluate a candidate on the job, with the option to hire.  The guidelines are:

• It can last for up to four (4) weeks or 160 hours maximum;

• VESID reimburses the employer for full wages paid the candidate;

• The employer must cover Worker's Compensation, Unemployment Insurance and Social Security benefits for the candidate.

   As part of the cooperative effort among the members of the Job Connection coalition, agencies can be empowered to negotiate Work Tryouts for their consumers who are also being served by VESID.
